Sri Lanka can be visited year round. Since Sri Lanka is located near to the Equator, there are no seasonal changes. But the rain might affect for the climatic conditions. May to September is the South West monsoon, so the beaches in the South and west coast could get rough. But the beaches in the East coast are good to visit. October to April is the busiest time period in the Sri Lanka tourism industry.
